COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Heavy rain throughout southeast Texas during the night and through the morning washed out the final round of the 2004 Big 12 Championship hosted by Texas A&M Sunday at the 6,242-yard, par-72 Pebble Creek Country Club.

Sophomore Meredith Jones shot 148 (74-74) to tie for seventh as the Bears' leading scorer. Freshman Anna Rehnholm shot a 77 to tie for 16th at 152. Sophomore Josefin Svenningsson rebounded from her first-round 79 to shoot a 75 and tied for 25th at 154. Senior Kelli McKandless tied for 30th at 156 (76-80), while senior Michaelyn Morgan tied for 51st at 163 (85-78).

Texas captured the championship with a total of 592 (292-300), seven strokes ahead of Texas A&M at 599 (294-305). Only five strokes separated third from seventh with Oklahoma State shooting 606 (306-300), Oklahoma 607 (299-308), Baylor 608 (304-304), Missouri 610 (311-299) and Texas Tech 611 (306-305).

Oklahoma State's Annie Thurman easily walked away with individual medalist honors by firing 7-under par 137 (69-68) to finish seven strokes ahead of Texas Janice Olivencia at 144 (72-72) and eight ahead of the Longhorns' Perry Swenson at 145 (69-76).

The Bears return to action at the NCAA Central Regional hosted by Illinois State May 6-8 at the University Golf Course in Normal, Ill.
