Men's Golfers Tie For Sixth At Crown Colony Classic
Oct. 17, 2000 NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Baylor's men's golf team shot a final-round 300 Tuesday and carded in at 29-over-par and in a tie for sixth place at the SFA Crown Colony Classic in Nacogdoches, Texas. Baylor finished fourteen strokes behind the tournament's leader Arkansas-Little Rock (293-298=591). Behind Arkansas-Little Rock was Texas-Arlington (291-305=596), followed by Southeastern LA (302-296=598) Sam Houston (301-301=602). Leading the Bears was senior Jimmy Walker (71-75=146), who finished at 2-over-par and in a tie for sixth place with Texas-Arlington's Luke Main. This is the second tournament in row in which Walker has finished in the top 10. Senior Brandon Sanders (78-74=152) and sophomore Trevar Matheson both finished in the top 35 at a tie for 27th and 32nd, respectfully. Rounding out the Bears' individually were sophomore Garrett Froggatte (75-80=155), who finished tied for 41st, freshmen Will Doughtie (78-78=156) in a tie for 46th, and freshmen Adam Meyer (78-80=158) in a tie for 55th. The event, originally scheduled for 54-holes, was shortened to 36-holes after rain canceled play Monday afternoon.
The Bears' next outing will be in Waco where they will host the Henry Griffitts Classic on November 6-7.
