Men's Golf Finishes 11th at Perry Maxwell

ARDMORE, Okla. - The Baylor men's golf team shot a final-round 286 to finish 11th with a total of 865 Sunday at the Perry Maxwell Intercollegiate hosted by Oklahoma State at the 6,453-yard, par-70 Dornick Hills Country Club. Junior Ryan Baca (Richmond, Texas) finished tied for 28th with a score of 215 (75-69-71), one stroke ahead of senior Jon Antunes (Belton, Texas), who finished at 216 (72-72-72). Freshman Jeremy Frye (Palestine, Texas) tied for 36th with a total of 217 (76-69-72). Senior Will Doughtie (Amarillo, Texas) got back on track with a total of 219 (75-73-71) to tie for 46th, while freshman Jeremy Alcorn (Brownwood, Texas) tied for 56th at 221 (75-72-74. Oklahoma State claimed the team title with a 7-under par 833 (284-265-284), six strokes ahead of Augusta State at 839 (283-278-278) and 10 better than third-place Oklahoma at 843 (282-274-287). Tulsa's David Ingles (69-69-67) defeated Colorado's Kane Webber (68-66-71) in a playoff to take individual medalist honors as both finished with 205, while Oklahoma's Doug Manor (70-64-72) was one stroke back at 206. The Bears return to action at the NCAA Central Regional hosted by Purdue May 20-22 at Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex in West Lafayette, Ind. The top-10 teams from each 27-team regional advance to the NCAA Championships June 1-4 at The Homestead Cascades Course in Hot Springs, Va.
