ARDMORE, Okla. - The Baylor men's golf team shot back-to-back rounds of 264 for a 36-hole total of 528 and stand second, four strokes behind Oklahoma State Saturday at The Maxwell at the 6,453-yard, par-70 Dornick Hills Country Club.

Junior Chase Thomas (Dallas, Texas) is tied for third to lead the Bears, firing 4-under par 136 with an opening round of 67, followed by a 69. Junior Jeremy Alcorn (Brownwood, Texas) is also among the top 10, tied for ninth at 2-under par 138. Alcorn carded a 71 in the first round, then shot 67 in the second.

Junior Jeremy Frye (Palestine, Texas) and sophomore Wes Williams (Franklin, Tenn.), playing individually, are tied for 12th at 139. Frye shot a 69 and 70, while Williams shot 68 and 71.

Senior Ryan Baca (Richmond, Texas) is tied for 22nd at 142, carding rounds of 74 and 68, while redshirt freshman Carmine Mediate (Southlake, Texas) is tied for 29th at 143, shooting 70 and 73.

The tournament concludes with the third and final round Sunday. The Bears have already earned the fifth seed in the NCAA West Regional, which will be held May 18-20 at Tucson National Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz. The top 10 teams and three individuals from each of the three regionals advance to the 2006 Men's Golf Championships May 31-June 3 at Crosswater Golf Club at Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Ore.
