TRINITY, Texas - The Baylor men's golf team wrapped up with a 301 for a score of 912 to finish seventh at the Big 12 Championships Sunday at the 7,330 yard, par-72 Whispering Pines Golf Club. Oklahoma State won the title for the fourth time with a score of 868.

Sophomore Chase Thomas (Dallas, Texas) shot a final-round 74 to tie for eighth at 220 and earn All-Big 12 Tournament Team honors. Thomas started with a double bogey on the 10th hole, but came back with birdies on 12, 15 and 17 and stood 1-over par through nine. He pulled to even-par twice with birdies on two and six, but bogeyed seven and eight to finish 2-over.

Sophomore Jeremy Alcorn (Brownwood, Texas) also finished with a 74 to tie for 11th at 221. Alcorn was 3-over par through nine, but birdied No. 1 and eagled the par-4 seventh, his third eagle of the tournament.

Redshirt freshman Brian Meck (Austin, Texas) and sophomore Colton Turnquist (Austin, Texas) each shot 77 and tied for 47th at 237. Meck bogeyed 11, birdied 12 and double bogeyed 13 before making eight straight pars. Meck then bogeyed four and double bogeyed six. Turnquist was 2-over through nine before bogeying two, three and seven.

Sophomore Jeremy Frye (Palestine, Texas) fired a 76 and tied for 49th at 238. Frye made 13 pars on the day and mixed in a birdie on 17 to finish 4-over.

Oklahoma State won the title by nine strokes over Oklahoma (877), while Missouri (885) took third, Texas (903) finished fourth and Texas A&M (909) finished fifth. Oklahoma's Anthony Kim captured the individual crown, finishing at 8-under par 208, for a six-stroke victory over Oklahoma State's Alex Noren (214). Oklahoma State's Zack Robinson (215) took third and Kansas State's Matt VanCleave (217) finished fourth.
 

 

The Bears will now wait for the NCAA Regional Championships seedings announcement Monday.
