Men's Golf Finishes Second At Belmont Invitational

Franklin, Tennessee - Senior Jimmy Walker shot a final round 67 to earn second place and the Bears finished in second at the Belmont Invitational. Baylor (860) shot a final round 286 but could not overtake Louisiana-Lafayette (854) for the title. The Bears placed three players in the top ten and all placed in the top twenty in the tournament. Rounding out the top five were Belmont (875), Austin Peay (878), and Tennessee Tech (880). Walker shot a 67 in the final round, the lowest score of the day, to finish with a 213 and earn second place. Senior Worth Williams (214) had his best outing of the spring as his even-par final round earned him a tie for fourth place. Freshman Jon Antunes (217) was impressive as well. He finished the tournament tied for ninth after a 74 in the final round. Rounding out the scoring for Baylor were senior Brandon Sanders and freshman Adam Meyer. Both finished the tournament tied for 18th with a score of 219 after a 74 in the final round. The Baylor men's golf team has now finished in the top five in eight of their last nine tournaments. Of these eight tournament finishes, six have been in the top three. Walker has four top-ten finishes this spring, including one tournament title and two second place finishes.
Baylor will return to action April 23-24, when it plays in the Big 12 Championship. The tournament will be played at Prairie Dunes Golf Club in Hutchison, Kansas.
