Men's Golf Finishes 14th at Morris Williams

AUSTIN, Texas - The Baylor men's golf team shot a 4-over par 292 for a 54-hole total of 890 to finish 14th and out of the top four for the first time this season at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate Tuesday at the 6,906-yard, par-72 Austin Country Club. Senior Ryan Baca (Richmond, Texas) rebounded from his second-round 76, his worst round of the season by two strokes, with a 1-under par 71 to tie for 25th at 218. He failed to finish in the top 10 for the first time in seven tournaments. Junior Jeremy Alcorn (Brownwood, Texas) posted his second straight 74 and tied for 49th at 224. Junior Jeremy Frye (Palestine, Texas) came back with a 1-under par 71 in the final round and tied for 68th at 228. Sophomore Wes Williams (Franklin, Tenn.) shot 76 and tied for 83rd at 232, while junior Colton Turnquist (Austin, Texas) shot a second straight 78 and tied for 85th at 233. Oklahoma State shot 14-under par 850 to claim a nine-stroke victory over Texas Tech. BYU was third at 1-under par, Texas was fourth at even-par and Oklahoma finished fifth at 4-over par. BYU's Oscar Alvarez took the individual title at 7-under par 209, three strokes better than Oklahoma State's Trent Leon and Jonathan Moore and Texas Tech's Oscar Floren. Baylor returns to action at The Aggie Invitational April 15-16 at The Traditions Club in Bryan, Texas. The tournament will be the final tune-up for the Bears before the Big 12 Championships April 24-25 at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Okla., site of the 2007 PGA Championships.
