Baylor Men's Golf In Sixth After First Day In Louisiana

Senior Jimmy Walker is currently tied for third after the first day at the Louisiana Classics.

Lafayette, La. - Senior Jimmy Walker is tied for third place and the 47th-ranked Baylor men's golf team is currently in sixth place after the first round of the Louisiana Classics. The second round was cancelled due to rain and the final eighteen holes will be played Tuesday at Oakbourne Country Club.

Baylor shot a 293 (+5) and finished the day 14 strokes behind first round leader Tennessee (-9). Rounding out the top five were Southern Methodist (-5), Mississippi (-4), Louisiana-Lafayette (E), and Tulsa (+3).

Walker opened the day with a round of 69 and is currently two strokes behind first round leader Jason Powell of Tennessee.

Senior Worth Williams and sophomore Ash Serur are currently tied for 27th after rounds of 74. Freshman Will Doughtie and sophomore Trevar Matheson are tied for 44th after carding rounds of 76. Rounding out the scoring for Baylor was freshman Adam Meyer who finished the day tied for 64th after shooting a 78.

The final round will begin at 7:30 a.m. (CST) at Oakbourne Country Club in Lafayette.
