Men's Golfers Third After First Two Rounds In Katy
Feb. 12, 2001 KATY, Texas - Senior Jimmy Walker and freshman transfer Jon Antunes are tied for seventh place and the Baylor men's golf team is currently in third place after the first two rounds of the Rice Intercollegiate at Meadowbrook Farms Golf Course. Baylor shot a 297 and a 288 to move into third place after the first two rounds. Walker opened the day with a round of 72 and finished with a 71 in the second round to move to 1-under-par for the tournament. Antunes, a transfer from Sam Houston State, opened the tournament with a 74 but finished strong with a 69 to move to 1-under-par. Freshman Will Doughtie was consistent in his first outing of the spring, finishing with two rounds of 72. His two rounds of even par were good enough to be in a three-way tie for ninth place after day one. Sophomore Ash Serur finished the day tied for 20th as he put up rounds of 75 and 74. Seniors Worth Williams and Brandon Sanders both finished tied for 35th with a score of 152 for both rounds. Williams shot two rounds of 76 while Sanders shot a 78 and a 74. Rounding out the scoring for Baylor was freshman Adam Meyer who shot a 76 and an 82, placing him tied for 51st.
The final round will begin Tuesday at 8 a.m. at Meadowbrook Farms Golf Course in Katy.
