WACO, Texas - Baylor University basketball players Corey Herring and Carl Marshall will not return to play for the Bears in 2004-2005, head basketball coach Scott Drew announced Tuesday.

"Our coaching staff really enjoyed working with Carl and Corey this year and we are very thankful for all of the help they provided our team," Drew said. "We wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors."

Marshall, a 5-10 point guard from Chicago, told Drew he is leaving the school for personal reasons. Marshall started 22 games and averaged 4.0 points and 0.8 assists as a freshman last season.

"I appreciate the time I spent at Baylor," Marshall said. "I'd like to thank everyone for their support. I will not be back this fall, I plan to attend a junior college."

Herring, a 6-4 swingman from Buffalo, N.Y., said he has decided to transfer to a school closer to his home. The junior-to-be averaged 4.2 points and 2.3 rebounds in two seasons off the bench at Baylor.
