McKenzie Named To Academic All-Big 12 First Team
March 4, 2004 WACO, Texas - Baylor student-athlete Robbie McKenzie was named to the 2004 Academic All-Big 12 Men's Basketball first team, the conference office announced Wednesday. A junior forward from Gainesville, Texas, McKenzie earned a spot on Baylor's squad during open tryouts on campus in October. McKenzie has played in 20 games this season, averaging 5.1 minutes per game. He has scored 18 points and totaled 18 rebounds. McKenzie, a university scholar major who will graduate from Baylor's pre-med program in May, has been named to the Dean's List each semester of his college career. The academic all-league squad consists of 17 first-team members and six second-team selections. First-team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.2 or better grade-point average, while the second team are those who have a 3.0 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.0 grade point average or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of his team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are eligible.
