WACO, Texas - Baylor relief pitcher Zane Carlson will miss this weekend's NCAA Super Regional after injuring his hand late Tuesday.

Carlson's right (throwing) hand required stitches after it was slammed in a car door Tuesday night. Carlson is expected to require a week off before throwing again.

"I'm very disappointed for Zane," head coach Steve Smith said. "Hopefully we can get through the Super Regional without Zane and give him another chance to pitch this season."

Carlson earned a win and two saves last weekend in the NCAA Hattiesburg Regional, pitching 4.1 innings and striking out nine without allowing an earned run. The school's single-season and career saves leader, Carlson is 3-4 on the year with a 2.61 ERA and 11 saves.

The Bears begin play against LSU in the Super Regional this weekend in Baton Rouge. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. Friday.
