Darling Resigns as Assistant Volleyball Coach Dec. 1, 2004
AUBURN, Ala. - Auburn assistant volleyball coach Matt Darling has resigned from his position, Coach Laura Farina announced on Wednesday. Darling leaves the Tigers after three years on the Plains to finish his PhD in English Literature. "Matt and I have worked together for eight years and I am sad to see him leave," Farina said. "I wish Matt the best of luck in his future endeavors and thank him for all of his hard work and dedication to the Auburn volleyball program. He has played a very important role on my staff over the years and it will be a challenge to fill his shoes." Darling had originally teamed up with Farina at Michigan State where she was an assistant and he was a manager in 1995 and '96. The two reunited at Marquette (1999-2001) when Farina was the head coach and Darling was her top assistant. The pair then traveled south to start the rebuilding of the Auburn program.
