Auburn Volleyball Looks to Clinch SEC Tournament Berth on Friday Night

Game Notes

Nov. 11, 2004

AUBURN, Ala. - The Auburn volleyball team will attempt to secure its first Southeastern Conference Tournament berth since 1999 on Friday night when the Tigers play host to Kentucky in a critical SEC match. First serve is set for 7 p.m. CT in the Student Activities Center and admission is free.

The Tigers are looking to rebound following a 3-0 loss to Alabama on their home court on Wednesday night. With a win over the Cats, the Tigers will secure at least the eighth seed in next weekend's conference tournament, and could move up to the seventh seed with losses by South Carolina to both Florida and Georgia.

This will be the second meeting between Auburn and Kentucky this season as the Tigers knocked off the Cats, 3-1, in Lexington, Ky., on Sept. 26.

Auburn has not advanced to the SEC Tournament since the 1999 season, but is looking to return in this, Laura Farina's third year at the helm of the Auburn program. Auburn's 5-10 conference mark is its best mark since the 1999 season.
