Game Notes
First pitch was at 12:11 p.m. CT.
The game went into extra innings, making it the third tournament game to do so. Alabama and Georgia and LSU and South Carolina also played extra frames in the first round on Thursday.
The game was broadcast live by Fox Sports Net South. Bernie Guenther
(Play-By-Play) and Cheri Kempf (Color) were behind the mic for the broadcast.
The game was also broadcast live on XM Radio, Channel 199, for the first time in the tournament's 11-year history. SEC Commissioner Mike Slive was interviewed prior to the game by Dick Gabriel. Gabriel served as the play-by-play voice for the game, which was also broadcast on www.secsports.com. Christian Bruey provided the radio broadcast for Florida while Patrick Wright did play-by-play for LSU.
Saturday's paid attendance was 798. The tournament's total attendance was 3,307, giving it an average of 826 per session.
Florida Notes
The game marked Florida's first SEC Tournament Championship Game appearances since the conference's inaugural season, 1997. The Gators lost that game to South Carolina, 6-0.
Ali Gardiner tied Florida's single-season record for double plays turned when she helped complete her 21st this year in the second inning.
Stacey Nelson retired 14 consecutive batters through the fifth inning.
Florida is now 3-4 in extra inning games this season.
Melissa Zick's eighth-inning stolen base gave Florida 112 stolen bases this season, which ties a school record.
Stacey Nelson, until allowing her ninth-inning run, had worked 29 straight shutout innings.
Nelson has now lost six games by 1-0 decisions this season.
LSU Notes
LSU returned to the SEC Tournament Championship Game for the eighth time in nine years. The Tigers last appearance in the final game in 2006, losing to Tennessee, 3-0.
LSU won its fifth-ever SEC Tournament Championship. The Tigers are 5-3 all-time in the SEC Tournament Championship Game.
Leslie Klein set the single-season LSU record with her 21st double, it coming in the ninth inning.
The Tigers failed to score a run in the first three innings of any game and scored just one overall in the first five innings. LSU scored six of its seven runs after the fifth inning.
LSU is now 7-2 in extra inning games this season.
