Anne Norton Named To SEC Good Works Team
Anne Norton Named To SEC Good Works Team May 9, 2005 Norton is one of 11 players selected to the team, representing each of the schools in the SEC. She is an integral part of the community and the campus, participating in a number of organizations. The Loxley, Ala., native has spent time at Yarbrough Elementary School, helping with the school's drama club. She also served an integral role in organizing a National Book Week at Yarbrough. In addition, Norton has organized a weekly bowling trip for Auburn High School students. Lastly, Norton also participated in a clothing drive in January and has volunteered at the Special Olympics. On the Auburn campus, Norton has been the softball team's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee representative for four years. She served as the organization's treasurer in 2003. On the field, the senior has had a career season for the Tigers, ranking seventh on the team with a career-high five home runs en route to a personal-best 13 runs batted in. She's posted a .567 slugging percentage this season coupled with a .267 batting average and .405on-base percentage. Norton and the third-seeded Tigers now head to the SEC Tournament to take on sixth-seeded South Carolina Thursday in Gainesville, Fla.
