AUBURN -- The Auburn soccer team earned four spots on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Southeast Region team as announced Wednesday by the NSCAA including Ronda Brooks, Chrissy Culver, Megan Rivera and Sarah Steinmann.
"I am very pleased that they have chosen to recognize four of our players in this way," head coach Karen Hoppa said. "This is a reflection of the success of this team and the great season they had."
Brooks, a sophomore defender from Marietta, Ga., and Rivera, a senior goalkeeper from Miami, Fla., were awarded first-team status for 2004. Both players were also named to the All-SEC first team in 2004 and Rivera has been named to her fourth consecutive NSCAA All-Region team honor.
Steinmann, a senior forward from Lilburn, Ga., was named to the all-region second team for the third consecutive season. Steinmann led the team in assists with six and was second with six goals on the year.
Auburn's final honoree is Culver, a senior forward from Marietta, Ga. The third team honor is Culver's first all-region award. Culver led the Tigers in scoring this season with eight goals and three assists and was honored as an All-SEC first team member for her efforts.
Auburn played to a 15-4-2 record in 2004, advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Tigers won the SEC Western Division for the fourth consecutive season and were the only undefeated team in conference play with a 9-0-2 record.
