Auburn Soccer Set To Begin Spring Season

Feb. 23, 2005

AUBURN -- Auburn soccer is set to begin its spring season Feb. 26 at home vs. the Georgia Bulldogs at 7 p.m. at the Auburn Soccer Complex. Admission to all home spring contests is free.

Last season, the Tigers concluded the fall with a 15-4-2 record overall and a trip to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Auburn was also the only undefeated team in SEC play in 2004.

“We are excited to get back out on the field and will compete against a quality opponent in Georgia,” Hoppa said. “Patrick Baker, who came from Florida State, will be the new head coach this spring for Georgia. We are looking forward to renewing that rivalry with him now at Georgia.”

Other home spring contests for Auburn include March 5 vs. Samford at 10 a.m. and Birmingham Southern at 12 p.m. BSC was a participant in Auburn’s NCAA Regional in the fall and Samford just missed its opportunity at NCAAs falling in the finals of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament. Auburn’s final home games of the spring will include matches with club teams on March 13.

There are two trips to Huntsville scheduled for the Tigers including games with Michigan and the Region III Olympic Development Team on March 19 and on April 16, Auburn will meet up with Vestavia U18 at 11 a.m. and Alabama at 7 p.m.
