Auburn, Ala. - The seventh-ranked Auburn women's golf team will compete for its first-ever NCAA Championship this week at the par 72, 6,310-yard LPGA International course in Daytona Beach, Fla. The Tigers qualified for their third-straight national championship with a fourth-place finish at the NCAA East Regional two weeks ago.

"The course will be ready for us," Auburn head coach Kim Evans said. "They will have it set up championship style. We led going into the last round of the Fall Preview there, so we have had some success at this course."

Auburn played the same course to open the 2006-07 season last fall and finished fourth behind Georgia, Duke, and UCLA. Those three teams and 16 others ranked in the top 25 by Golfweek make up a large portion of the 24-team field at the NCAA Championship.

The Tigers hold a 34-27 advantage over the NCAA Championship field and have competed against 18 of the 24 teams already this season. Auburn will meet BYU, Denver, New Mexico, Pepperdine, Stanford, and UC Irvine for the first time this season.

Auburn will play the same lineup it played at the East Regional, but will shuffle the order slightly. Senior Nicole Hage will play her last tournament as a Tiger in the No. 1 spot, followed by junior Margaret Shirley at No. 2. Junior Abigale Schepperle will play at No. 3 and her sister, freshman Candace Schepperle, will play at No. 4. Redshirt-freshman Marissa Milligan will round out the lineup in the No. 5 spot.

Auburn tees off of hole 10 Tuesday at 12:20 p.m. CT with BYU and Indiana. Auburn will play its second round Wednesday morning at 7:50 a.m. CT. Tee times and playing partners for Thursday and Friday will be determined based on play in the first two rounds.

Live results will be available at www.golfstat.com and a full recap of each round can be found at www.auburntigers.com at the conclusion of play.
