MANSFIELD, Texas - The Auburn equestrian team (5-4) suffered a 9-7 defeat from TCU on Thursday. The Tigers took the hunt seat win with a raw score of 594.5-565, but lost the western 5-3.

"We needed a half of a point here and a half of a point there," said Auburn head coach Greg Williams. "I felt that our biggest downfall was in horsemanship. They know their mistakes. It was pretty uncharacteristic for them to ride like they did."

Auburn tied TCU in three of the events of the afternoon, but fell 4-1 in horsemanship.

Earning MVP honor for Auburn was senior Julie Gibbes in reining, freshman Rebecca Rifkin on the flat and freshman Katie Breedlove over fences.

"There is no doubt that we had individual rides that were really good," said Williams, "we just didn't do it as a team."

Auburn travels to Dallas on Friday where they will be honored by the Dallas Auburn Club for their National Championship win.

"We are really excited," said Williams. "It is so good to see the excitement about being from Auburn. I think that it is going to be fun for our girls to see Auburn passion as far away as in Dallas."

The Tigers continue the Texas Trilogy at Baylor on Saturday at 1 pm.

"There are a lot of situations that we would want different, but we are going to forget about it and move on to Saturday's meet," said Williams.
