Robbert Lathouwers Named First Team All-SEC

Birmingham, Ala. - Auburn men's tennis senior Robbert Lathouwers was named first team All-SEC on Wednesday as voted on by the league's coaches. Lathouwers and his Tiger team begin play at the SEC Tournament on Thursday at 11 a.m. versus Kentucky in Baton Rouge, La.

Lathouwers, who is currently ranked No. 38, has put together an impressive 17-4 overall record this spring, including a 9-2 ledger in conference play, his best overall and SEC record of his career. To date, Lathouwers has compiled a 64-43 career singles record, including 12 straight wins to open spring play this year. Lathouwers is undefeated, 3-0, at No. 1 singles and is 14-4 at the No.2 spot.

"I am proud of Robbert and what is has accomplished this year," head coach Eric Shore said. "Robbert has been our most dependable player this year and his record reflects that. He has beaten quality opponents this year and is deserving of this honor."

The No. 29 Auburn men's tennis team begins post-season play on Thursday at the SEC Tournament. The Tigers meet No. 56 Kentucky at 11 a.m. at the W.T. "Dub" Robinson Tennis Stadium in Baton Rouge, La. Auburn finished the regular season 13-8 overall and 6-5 in the league, while Kentucky ended with a 13-14 overall ledger (3-8 SEC). The Tigers earned the seventh seed while Kentucky is the 10-seed. The winner of the match will meet second-seeded Ole Miss on Friday at 11 a.m.
