Auburn Golfer Stuart Moore Named All-SEC Second-Team
May 1, 2006 AUBURN - Auburn senior golfer Stuart Moore has been named to the All-SEC second-team after finishing in the top-25 in six tournaments this season, the league office announced Monday.
Moore leads Auburn with a 72.77 stroke average and has three top-10 finishes this season. He claimed medalist honors in the Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate and finished tenth in both the Schenkel E-Z-Go Invitational and SEC Championship. Moore was also a second-team selection last year.
His 8-under 64 in the second round of the Hitchcock set the record for the lowest round under par by an Auburn individual. He won the tournament by seven strokes, earning his first collegiate title.
"I am pretty fortunate to have been named All-SEC again," said Moore. "It's a good feeling to be honored as a senior. I felt like I played well toward the end of the season, and I hope to keep it going in the postseason."
Moore has played in 45 tournaments while at Auburn and has a 73.31 career stroke average. He led the NCAA in driving accuracy as both a freshman and a sophomore.
"I am extremely proud of Stuart and what he has been able to accomplish during his Auburn career," head coach Mike Griffin said. "The way that he has played this year makes him very deserving of this honor."
Georgia's Chris Kirk was named SEC Player of the Year while teammate Brian Harman was Freshman of the Year, Georgia's Chris Haack Coach of the Year and Alabama's Joseph Sykora the Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
