Pair Of Auburn Golfers Earn All-SEC Honors
April 30, 2007 AUBURN - Junior Patton Kizzire and sophomore Glenn Northcutt were named to the All-SEC squad with Kizzire earning first-team honors and Northcutt earning second team honors, the Southeastern Conference announced Monday.
Kizzire, who was named second team All-SEC as a freshman in 2005, claimed his first individual title and became Auburn's fourth SEC Champion with a three-stroke victory at the SEC Championship. The Tuscaloosa, Ala., native has a 72.97 stroke average and three top-10 finishes this year. He leads the team with 11 sub-par rounds.
Northcutt, a native of Dothan, Ala., earned SEC honors with a team-best 72.61 stroke average. He helped guide the Tigers to a win at the Seminole Intercollegiate with a third place finish. Northcutt has five top-15 finishes this season.
"I am proud of what Patton and Glenn have accomplished this year, and it is good to see them recognized," head coach Mike Griffin said. "They are very deserving of this honor after having stellar seasons."
Auburn awaits its NCAA Regional bid which will be announced May 7. The site of the East Regional is Atlanta, Ga., with the Central Regional in Sugar Grove, Ill., and the West Regional in Tempe, Ariz.
Florida's Billy Horschel was named SEC Golfer of the Year while Georgia's Hudson Swafford was Freshman of the Year, Tennessee's Jim Kelson Coach of the Year and Alabama's Joseph Sykora Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
