Charlotte's Lindsey Ozimek Named Finalist For Senior CLASS Award

Oct. 18, 2007

Charlotte, N.C. - Charlotte 49ers women's soccer senior midfielder Lindsey Ozimek has been named one of ten finalists for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award which is the nation's premier award for NCAA senior student-athletes.

The ten finalists are placed on the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award ballot for a nationwide vote beginning October 17 and concluding November 21. Fan balloting is available at the award's official website, www.seniorclassaward.com. Fan votes will be combined with coaches, media and sponsors to determine the recipient of the award.

Just in the last year, Ozimek has been named first-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American (she was a third-team ESPN The Magazine academic All-American in 2005), first-team All-Atlantic 10, 2006 Atlantic 10 All-Championship team, A-10 Academic All-Conference team, NSCAA/adidas Scholar All-South region team, NSCAA All-Southeast Region second-team and Soccer Buzz All-Southeast Region third-team.

Ozimek, who owns the program's assist record with 40 career assists, currently leads the A-10 in assists with 10. The senior midfielder, who was a member of the United States U-20 national team, is third on the team in goals with four and leads the team in points with 18.

The Lowe's Senior CLASS Award is presented annually in eight NCAA Division I sports to a senior student-athlete who has outstanding attributes in four areas: the classroom, community, character and competition. Winners will be announced during the NCAA Soccer Championships, December 7-9 in College Station, Texas.

The finalists were selected from a list of 20 candidates based on personal qualities that define a complete student-athlete. While the on-the-field performance during their collegiate soccer careers is a factor in determining candidates and the eventual winner, their personal character and off-the-field achievements in the classroom and community are major areas of focus.
