AMHERST, MA - Senior UMass rower Lea Jakobsen was named second team All-America by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association. Jakobsen, a senior from Copenhagen, Denmark, rowed in the seventh seat of UMass' Atlantic 10 and ECAC Championship varsity eight.

The CRCA selects 45 student-athletes, 20 for the first team and 25 for the second team as All-Americans. UMass has now had eight All-American selections since 1999. It was the first time that Jakobsen has been honored. Katie O'Brien earned a spot on the first team last year.

Jakobsen, an exercise science major, was a part of four Atlantic 10 champion varsity eight boats during her career at UMass. Last year she won the Danish National Championship in both the women's pair and women's eight. She has also rowed for the Danish Junior National Team (1997-1999) and the Danish Under 23 team (2000-2002).
