UAB Track And Field Records Seven Top Ten Finishes At Mississippi Open
April 14, 2007 OXFORD, Miss. - The UAB women's track and field team tallied seven top ten finishes on Saturday at the Mississippi Open, hosted by Ole Miss at the Mississippi Track and Field Complex in Oxford, Miss. Junior Erika Russ recorded UAB's highest finish, placing second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:05.50. Russ nabbed her second top-ten placing of the meet in the 100-meter hurdles, taking the sixth spot with a time of 14.84. Also grabbing multiple top-ten finishes was senior Stacey Adewakun, placing eighth in both the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash with times of 12.10 and 25.11, respectively. Senior Stephanie McCauley took fourth overall in the 100-meter dash, running a season-best time of 12.00. McCauley also clocked a 25.55 to take 15th in the 200-meter dash. In the 400 meters, UAB had a pair of good performances in junior Tara Colvin and freshman Amber Walker. Colvin placed third with a season-best time of 54.48, while Walker finished the event in 1:00.40 to take 14th place. The Blazers' 4x100 relay squad also brought home a top-ten finish, placing second with a season-best time of 46.14.
