UAB Softball Team To Face Alabama A&M
April 4, 2005 NORMAL, Ala. - The UAB softball team will face in-state foe Alabama A&M on Tuesday in a doubleheader scheduled for 2 p.m. at Lady Bulldog Field. The Blazers (17-25, 4-8 Conference USA) won two of three games against Saint Louis this past weekend in St. Louis, Mo., after suffering a sweep at the hands of Louisville earlier in the week on the road. The Blazers own an 11-0 all-time mark versus the Bulldogs which includes five shutouts. UAB and Alabama A&M met earlier in the season in Birmingham on Feb. 15, as the Blazers opened their home schedule with a doubleheader sweep of the Bulldogs by scores of 1-0 and 8-0. Senior right-hander Erica Mascarenas pitched a complete-game two-hitter in game one and then freshman lefty Jennifer Nelson tossed a perfect game to lead the Blazers to the shutout victory. The Blazers, who last played a non-conference game on March 18 at Georgia State, will be at home this weekend as UAB welcomes USF to George Ward Park for a three-game series to continue C-USA play.
