Former UAB women's basketball player, Laura Waldrop returns for her second year on the Blazer coaching staff, but this time in a different role. This year, Waldrop takes on the position of director of basketball operations after spending the 2005-06 season as a student assistant coach for the Blazers. Waldrop was a three-year letterwinner for UAB, despite being hampered by injuries throughout her career. She tallied a careerhigh six points during the 2001 season against Kent State, as well as providing the Blazers with valuable minutes on the hardwood. Waldrop began her basketball career as a standout at Prattville High School, averaging 20 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals during her senior campaign. She was honored by the Montgomery Advertiser by being named to the Montgomery All-Metro Team. The Prattville, Ala., native received her bachelor's degree in education in 2006 from UAB. |
