FAIRBANKS, AK- Marius Korthauer turned in a course record time of 22:47 in the Nanooks' trial meet at the Ester Dome 5K on Saturday. Korthauer, who finished first in this event last season as well, easily bested the old mark of 22:53, set by former Nanook Michal Malak in 2002.

Another Alaska alumnus, Harald Aas, finished second in the event with a time of 23:29. New addition Jani Tulppo, who just met up with the Nanook squad last Tuesday, was the team's second best runner, placing third overall in 23:54. Chris Eversman (fourth), Zach McGill (fifth) and John Parry (seventh) round out the men's top five.

On the women's side, Anna Coulter remained the Blue and Gold's top finisher, taking first place with a time of 28:01. Graduate student Beth Zirbes placed second with a time of 29:46, finishing just ahead of Alaska assistant coach Ingrid Olson. Elisabeth Habermann, Lindy Smith and newcomer Riikka Kemppainen complete the women's top five finishers, coming in at fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively.
