James Larson is beginning his second year in 2008-09 at Adrian College as head coach of the cross country and track & field programs for men and women. Larson previously worked at Springfield College (Mass.), where he served as the head cross country coach for the 2006 season. The Pride boasted an NCAA Division III All-Regional performer in the 2006 season and finished 16th in the tough New England Region. He also served as an assistant track & field coach at Springfield for a program that developed three All-Americans in the '06 season.
Before completing his master's degree in physical education from Springfield, Larson gained experience as the head cross country coach at Chippewa Falls McDonell High School, Wisconsin (2003), an assistant women's track & field coach at his alma mater, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire (2003-05). He also spent one year as an assistant women's cross country and track & field coach at Springfield (2005-06).
A 2003 graduate of UW-Eau Claire, Larson excelled on the trails and track. He was named an NCAA All-Midwest Region athlete in cross country and was also an NCAA Division III Championships qualifier. In 2001, he was an All-American in indoor track and was named an All-WIAC performer in '00 and '01.
