Garden City, N.Y. - Adelphi University's Christina Vandling was named the NYCAC Volleyball Rookie of the Week for a solid showing this week for the red-hot Panthers. This is the first conference nod for both Vandling and Adelphi this season.

In a thrilling five-set upset over Mercy, the 6-4 freshman from Endicott, N.Y. totaled 15 kills with a .281 percentage and was big on defense with eight blocks. She added 24 kills and seven blocks in a weekend sweep at the St. Anselm tournament and the Panthers have now won a school record six straight.

Adelphi returns to conference action Tuesday night at NYIT before returning home on Thursday, October 14, hosting Philadelphia University at 7:00 p.m.
