Sept. 16, 2003 Garden City, N.Y. - The Panthers fell to Concordia College 3-1 in their NYCAC and home opener. Adelphi came out strong, winning the first game 30-28, and keeping the second game close, 24-30. But the Panthers seemed to run out of steam in the last two games of the match, falling 21-30 and 21-30. Freshman Rachael Cornick (Endicott, N.Y.) led the Panthers with 18 kills and four digs for the match. Junior Sharon Ribera (Hollis Hills, N.Y.) added 23 assists. Meaghan Joyce (Massapequa, N.Y.) also played well, finishing with five digs and five kills. With the loss Adelphi drops to 0-4 on the year and 0-1 in NYCAC play. Concordia evens its record to 3-3 overall and 1-0 in the conference with the win. The Panthers travel to C.W. Post on Thursday September 18th. The match is set to start at 7 pm. |
