Hempstead Lake State Park, NY - In back-to-back ECC competitions, Adelphi Women's Tennis had their best outing this season, winning 9-0 over Molloy College at Hempstead Lake State Park, but fell to Queens College 7-2 on the road in Queens. The Panthers move to 2-2 in ECC competition and 3-4 overall. With the duo of Alda Ribeiro (Del Ray Beach, FL) and Megan Margino (Lake Grove, NY), the Panthers opened against the Lady Lions of Molloy with an 8-0 win in doubles. The Panthers carried that momentum though the remaining of the match, winning every set less two. Worth noting, Ribeiro was not scored upon during the outing, also seeing two single match victories at 6-0. In Flushing, NY, up against the ECC number one ranked Queens College Knights, the Panthers fell behind in the doubles competition, and were never able to recover. Ribeiro was one of two victories Adelphi gathered during the competition, winning 6-1, 6-1 over Jess Franklin. Kristina Radeva (Varna, Bulgaria) was Adelphi's other winner, 6-3, 6-1 over Maria Perevezatzen. Adelphi Women's Tennis will continue their East Coast Conference action against cross-island rivals, C.W. Post at Hempstead Lake State Park, Hempstead, New York. |
