Women's Tennis Prepares For NYCAC Team Championship Final

New Haven, CT - The Adelphi women's tennis team was awarded the third seed in the NYCAC Team Championship on the strength of their 5-2 conference mark. The Panthers traveled to West Haven, Connecticut on Monday, October 10 to take on #2 New Haven and picked-up a 5-4 win to advance to the conference finals.

In their semifinal match with New Haven sophomore Claudia Nunez (Aventura, FL) won both her singles and doubles match, teaming with freshman Leah Moore to pick-up an 8-4 doubles win. Moore also won her singles match 6-2, 6-1, while Janine Canale (Queensbury, N.Y.) and Melissa Pashayan (Garden City, N.Y.) collected a crucial third flight doubles win. Claudette Frysztacki (Wantagh, N.Y.) battled for her second flight singles win, pulling out a 1-6, 6-0, 10-4 victory that proved to be the difference.

The third seeded Panthers will travel to Queens College today for a 2:00 pm meeting with the defending champions.
