Garden City, N.Y. - Junior second baseman Amy Delmore (Bellerose Manor, N.Y.) was named a Louisville Slugger/NFCA Second-team All-America as announced Wednesday by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. This is the first softball All-American for Adelphi University since becoming a Division II program in 1995 and only the fourth overall All-American in the program's history.

Delmore joins forty-five other student-athletes to be named to the three teams which were selected by NCAA Division II head coaches representing each region. She was the only member from the New York Collegiate Athletic Conference (NYCAC) to receive recognition.

This was an outstanding season for Delmore who in addition to being named a first-team All-Northeast region selection, was crowned Adelphi's first-ever NYCAC Player of the Year. Delmore led the conference all season in batting average, finishing at .408. She also ranked second in the league in slugging percentage (.648), third in runs scored (32) and fifth in on-base percentage (.452) and total bases (81).

The Panthers (25-16) finished the season in the first-round of the NYCAC Tournament.

Delmore is just the third All-American in Adelphi's 33 year history. Outfielder Regina Dooley was a two-time First-Team All-America in 1984 and 1985, while utility Kristen Peterson earned first-team honors in 1988.
