Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University softball team finished tied for third in the NCAA Regionals by virtue of its 2-1 record in the tournament. The weather was a huge factor, causing postponements of games. LeMoyne, the only undefeated team in the tournament was declared the overall winner.

The Panthers dropped their opening game on Thursday to LeMoyne, 3-1, but rebounded to top Bryant College, 5-3, on Friday and UMass-Lowell, 5-1 on Monday. Seniors Amy Delmore and Carla Buonviaggio were each named to the NCAA Northeast Region All-Tournament Team. Delmore was 4-for-10 with three doubles and two runs in the three-game tournament. Buonviaggio posted both wins for Adelphi with a 0.93 ERA, allowing just four runs, two earned, while walking eight and striking out 16.

Adelphi finished the season with a 33-17 overall record, making it the sixth time the Panthers had recorded 30 or more wins in a season. This was the third Division II NCAA appearance for the Panthers who are 6-5 in tournament play.
