May 1, 2006 New York, N.Y. - C.W. Post, which finished the regular season unbeaten in NYCAC play at 18-0, and Adelphi, which put together a 13-5 league mark, have earned the top two seeds in the 2006 NYCAC Softball Championships, set for Friday through Sunday in Brookville, N.Y. and Garden City, N.Y. The No. 1 seed Pioneers (39-10 overall) and No. 2 Panthers (28-14) have first-round byes in the six-team event. Also qualifying are No. 3 seed Queens (12-6 NYCAC, 22-17 overall), No. 4 New Haven (11-7, 18-21-1), No. 5 Dowling (10-8, 27-27) and No. 6 St. Thomas Aquinas (10-8, 17-20). St. Thomas takes on Queens (2 p.m. at Garden City, N.Y.) and Dowling battles New Haven (2 p.m. at Brookville, N.Y.) in first-round action on Friday. Two games each in the double-elimination tournament will be held at both venues on Friday and Saturday. Sunday's contests will be held at Brookville. Last year, Dowling topped C.W. Post, 1-0, in eight innings in a thrilling final game to win its first title. The Pioneers have won six NYCAC Tournaments, including the 2002-2004 championships. Dowling, C.W. Post and New Haven all reached the NCAA Northeast Regional last year.
