Game One/Game Two

Garden City, N.Y. - Carla Buonviaggio (Staten Island, N.Y.) threw a three-hit shutout in game one to lead Adelphi to a 3-0 victory, but in game two Molloy's bats came alive, carrying the Lions to a 3-2 win. With the split the Adelphi sits at 26-14 overall and 13-5 in the conference, while Molloy improves to 12-30 overall and 3-13 in the conference.

Game One
Buonviaggio helped her own cause when she broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the third, scoring on a Molloy error to put Adelphi ahead 1-0. Then Julie Schaper (Warwick, N.Y.) gave the Panthers a 2-0 lead, singling to center field, scoring Dely Francisco (Haverstraw, N.Y.).

In the bottom of the fourth, the Panthers tacked on a third run when Diana DiPiano (Valley Stream, N.Y.) led off the inning with a home run down the left field line, putting Adelphi on top, 3-0. That was more then enough run support for Buonviaggio, who went the distance, striking out six and giving up just three hits.

Game Two
Adelphi took an early lead in game two, when Kristina LoCastro (Garden City, N.Y.) drove in Amy Delmore (Bellerose Manor, N.Y.) in the bottom of the second, putting the Panthers ahead 2-1. However, Molloy found some offense, scoring two runs in the top of the fifth on two RBI singles.

The Lions entered the top of the sixth inning with a 2-1 lead and tacked on an insurance run, leading off the inning with a home run, pushing their cushion to 3-1. In the bottom of the sixth Adelphi pulled within one run, 3-2, on a Jessica Vogt (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) home run, but could not get any closer.

The Panthers return to action on Sunday, April 30 when they take on Georgian Court at 1:00 pm.
