Dec. 12, 2003 Garden City, N.Y. - For the third consecutive year, both the men's and women's soccer programs have been been recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of American (NSCAA) for its team academic excellence. A total of 308 NCAA soccer programs (64 men, 244 women) posted a team grade-point average of 3.000 or higher, thereby earning the Team Academic Award for 2003. Of that total, 45 schools had both their men's and women's programs recognized, including 22 schools that received double honors for the second consecutive year. The women, who posted a combined team gpa of 3.33, have been honored by the NSCAA every year since 1995. The men's team came in with a 3.10 gpa, and has received the Team Academic Award consecutively since 1998. |
