Southampton, N.Y. - The Adelphi University women's soccer team remains undefeated in conference play after a 2-0 victory over host Southampton College, Wednesday afternoon. The Panthers improve to 10-1-1 overall and 6-0 in the NYCAC, while the Lady Colonials drop to 9-4 and 5-1 in the NYCAC. Adelphi opened the scoring in the 42nd minute of play as senior Domonique Riccardo (Valley Stream, N.Y.) collected her second goal of the season to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead going into intermission. Senior Monica Miller (Albuquerque, N.M.) scored the insurance goal in the 55th minute, for her third goal of the season. In an evenly matched contest, Adelphi held a slight advantaged on shots, 16-14. Senior goalkeeper Andrea Fasano (Syosset, N.Y.) had a big game, making nine stops for her seventh shutout of the season. The Panthers have held their opponents scoreless in their last six meetings, totaling eight shutouts on the season. In total, the team has allowed just two goals. Adelphi returns home after a four-game road trip to host St. Thomas Aquinas on Saturday, October 18 at 2:00 p.m. The game will be part of a doubleheader during Adelphi's Homecoming Weekend. The men will host St. Francis (NY) at 12 noon. Both games will be broadcast on Telecare, Cablevision Channel 29, this Sunday evening beginning at 8 p.m. |
