July 26, 2007 Garden City, N.Y. - The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Association (IWLCA) has recognized 410 student-athletes and 97 teams for achieving success in the classroom with naming the 2007 Academic Honor Roll. Adelphi University earned Honor Squad recognition in addition to four student-athletes named to the Academic Honor Roll. Graduate student Lisa Maggiotta, senior Tara Grodotzke and juniors Danielle Lyons and Jennifer Fucich were named to the Academic Honor Roll. A total of 66 student-athletes from 24 different institutions were named to the honor roll. In order for a team to receive recognition it had to maintain a GPA of 3.00 or greater for the 2006-2007 academic year. In addition, three schools from each division with the highest overall GPA were named as Merit Squads. In Division II the East Coast Conference had three schools earn the designation, led by St. Thomas Aquinas College, who had a 3.34. Division II National Champion C. W. Post also earned Merit Squad status with a team GPA of 3.237 along with conference rival Molloy. Adelphi boasted a 3.235 GPA to earn Honor Squad status. In total forty-three schools in Division I, 14 schools in Division II, and 41 schools in Division III, including the merit squads, were named honor squads. |
