Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University women's lacrosse team has earned Merit Squad standing for the 2005 season based on their overall grade point average as announced on June 24 by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA). In addition, three team members were named to the National Honor Roll.

The National Academic Team Award program recognizes institutions that achieve a team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the second semester of the 2004-05 academic year. Adelphi was ranked second with a 3.34 GPA behind Pfeiffer University (3.368), while just edging St. Thomas Aquinas College (3.33). These top three teams are designated as Merit Squads while all other institutions with a 3.0 or higher were designated as Academic Squads.

In addition, senior Katherine Hock along with juniors Jayna Kyriacou and Kelly Ryan were each named to the 2005 National Honor Roll. The 64 student-athlates that comprise the list have all achieved junior or senior standing academically and have a 3.2 or better GPA for the spring semester.

The Panthers (14-2) finished the season with a repeat appearance at the NCAA Final Four, setting a new school record for most wins in a season.
