June 7, 2004 Garden City, N.Y. - Adelphi University head coach Jill Lessne was named the 2004 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II Coach of the Year at the end of season awards banquet held in Baltimore, MD on Saturday, June 5. Lessne guided the Panthers (13-1) to their first Division II Championship and the first national championship for a women's program at Adelphi. This is also the first coaching nod for Lessne, who has been at the helm since the program's inception in 2001. Also named DII Coach of the Year by Inside Lacrosse, Lessne has coached seven All-American in her four years with Adelphi and her career record stands at 38-13. The Panthers finished the 2004 season ranked in the top three in the nation in every statistical category. The squad also set school records for most consecutive wins (11) and overall winning percentage (.929). |
