Women's Lax Tops Bentley, 7-5

Waltham, Mass. - Adelphi freshman Katherine Hock (Mineola, N.Y.) scored three goals to help the Panthers defeat Bentley College, 7-5, in women's lacrosse action, Sunday afternoon in Waltham. Adelphi improves to 7-5 as Bentley fell to 2-4 on the season.

Bentley took the first lead of the game seven minutes into the game on an unassisted goal by sophomore Diane Gerkin (Ocean Township, N.J.). Hock scored the first of her three goals just four minutes later to tie the game at one goal apiece. Bentley then scored the next two goals to take a 3-1 lead. With 17 seconds left in the first half, Hock socred her second goal of the game and brought the Panthers within one goal entering the half.

Two minutes into the second half, sophomore Leigh Fennessey (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) tied the game at three goals apiece. One minute later the Falcons captured the lead again when junior Lauren Dickie (Canton, Mass.) bounced home a shot. Just 30-seconds later, Hock scored her third goal of the game, tying the game 4-4. The Panthers then scored three unanswered goals, taking their final lead of the game.

The Panthers return to action on Thursday, April 18, traveling to Montclair State University for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
