Green Signs With The Long Island Lizards

Garden City, N.Y. - Three-time All-American and former Adelphi standout, Wes Green (Adelaide, Australia) was selected by the Long Island Lizards in the Major League Lacrosse (MLL) supplemental draft. Green signed a deal with the Lizards, who are one of ten teams in the MLL.

Green, the 2006 USILA Attackman and Player of the Year, appeared in his first game as a Lizard on Saturday, June 17. In that game, a 13-12 loss to the Philadelphia Barrage, Green registered two shots and collected two ground balls.

Adelphi assistant coach Peter Vlahakis (Shoreham, N.Y.) was also selected by the Lizards in the supplemental draft. In five games with Long Island Vlahakis, a face-off specialist has won 84 of 147 face-offs taken, collected 24 ground balls and scored one goal.

The Lizards are currently 1-4 overall and return to action on Friday, June 23 when they travel to Maryland for a 7:30 pm meeting with the Baltimore Bayhawks. Long Island's next home contest is on Saturday, July 8.
