April 23, 2003 Southampton, N.Y. - Senior David Toy collected six goals and two assists en route to Adelphi's 18-8 conference win over Southampton, Wednesday afternoon. The Panthers improve 6-2 overall and 3-1 in the NYCAC. The Colonials drop to 7-6 and 2-5 in the NYCAC. Adelphi held a 5-0 advantage at the end of the first quarter and never looked back. Southampton got on board in the second quarter, but the Panthers outscored the Colonials 8-2 to lead, 13-2 at the half. Southampton scored three goals in each of the last two quarters as Adelphi coasted to a 18-8 victory. Freshman Wesley Green and senior Tyler Heavenor had three goals apiece with Heavenor also chipping in an assist. Junior Kim Delfs chipped in two goals and two assists. Senior goalie Mark Miller had six saves for Adelphi. The Panthers return to action this Saturday, hosting West Chester University (6-5, 4-2) at 1:00 p.m. in a key conference match-up. |
