Old Westbury, N.Y. - Junior Brian Boyle scored two goals and passed out two assists as the New York Institute of Technology defeated rival Adelphi University 7-5 in NYCAC conference action today. The Bears remain undefeated on the season, improving to 7-0 overall, 2-0 in the NYCAC. Adelphi falls to 5-2 on the season, 2-1 in the conference.

Adelphi's David Toy put the Panthers on the scoreboard early in the first quarter after taking an assist from Matt Schomburg. NYIT responded with two unanswered goals and led 2-1 at the end of the first. Jeremy Nickol netted an unassisted goal at the 8:39 mark to tie the game at one and less than 30 seconds later, Paul Montali put the Bears ahead off of a feed from Boyle.

Adelphi shut NYIT out in the second quarter and scored two goals to take a 3-2 lead into the half. Kim Delfs tied the game at 2-2 with just over two minutes remaining and Wesley Green beat goaltender Matt Hunter with just :31 seconds on the clock to give the Panthers the lead.

NYIT turned the tables on Adelphi in the third quarter, shutting them out, while scoring two goals. Montali scored just 91 seconds into the third and Boyle added the go-ahead goal with 7:42 remaining. The Bears scored the first two goals of the fourth quarter as well, putting together a string of four unanswered goals to take a 6-4 lead. Green and Toy both scored their second goals of the game late in the fourth quarter as Adelphi tried to make a run, but NYIT freshman Joseph Vasold sandwiched a goal at the 3:42 mark between theirs, to extend the Bears lead to 7-4.

The Bears out-shot the Panthers 33-18 for the game. Adelphi also took 10 penalties, and NYIT took advantage, scoring two extra-man goals. Hunter finished with 10 saves for the Bears

Mark Miller played extremely well for the Panthers, making 18 saves in the net.

Adelphi returns to action this Wednesday, traveling to Southampton College at 4:00 p.m.
