May 5, 2004 Garden City, N.Y. - Two members of the Adelphi baseball team received All-Conference honors as announced by the New York Collegiate Athletic Conference (NYCAC). Senior Catcher Michael Joyce (Hauppauge, N.Y.) and junior outfielder Frank Alesia (Valley Stream, N.Y.) were each received second-team honors. Joyce has appeared in nearly ever game this season for the Panthers and is second on the team in put-outs with 169. He is also hitting .312 with seven doubles and 13 RBI. Alesia leads the team in hits (47), RBI (33), total bases (75), steals (20) and triples (4). He has also appeared in nearly ever game and has committed just two errors all season. Adelphi finished the regular season with a record of 19-21 overall and 10-10 in the conference. The sixth seeded Panthers open the first round of the NYCAC playoffs today at third seeded New Haven. |
