West Haven, C.T. - Adelphi gave up six runs in the second inning and could not recover, falling to New Haven 7-3 in the play in game of the NYCAC Playoffs. With the loss Adelphi ends their season with a record of 19-22 overall, while New Haven improves to 22-8 and will face Molloy in the first round of the NYCAC Playoffs this weekend. The Panthers gave up six runs on five hits and two errors in the second, falling behind New Haven 6-0. Adelphi rallied in the third to score two runs and pull within 6-2. Michael Joyce (Hauppauge, N.Y.) doubled to right center and scored Casey Twibell (Carle Place, N.Y.). Then Doug Anderson (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) singled, scoring Joyce. In the fifth the Panthers picked up another run as Adam Kipling (Smithtown, N.Y.) doubled to right center, scoring Frank Alesia (Valley Stream, N.Y.). But 6-3 was as close as Adelphi would get. New Haven held the Panthers scoreless for the rest of the game and tacked on an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth. |
