Garden City, NY - Adelphi swimming returned home to the Avilla E. Nolan pool to face the Bulldogs of Bryant University. Both match-ups remained close until the end, but when the water settled, the men picked up their seventh win of the season, 55-40. The women faced a tough Bryant squad, dropping to the Bulldogs, 59-35. The men's squad improves to 7-1 overall, while the women fall to 4-3 overall. The men's squad began the meet with a one, three effort in the 200-yard medley relay for seven points. In the 200-yard freestyle Zachary Terzano posted a 1:45.69 to pick up first place followed by Brendan Berry, whose 1:51.67 was good enough for a second. Other event winners for the men were Alex Griffith, 200-yard IM, Terzano, also winning the 100-free, Andrew Meditz in the 200-breast and the men's 200-yard free relay, posting a time of 1:32.47 to close the meet. The women's side saw stand out performances in their efforts against the Bulldogs. Freshman Jennifer Scarnati swam in three different events, and scored in all three. Caylee Squillante in a close battle swam a 27.15 in the 50-free for the Panthers' first event win. Squillante combined with Jackie Birkel to take spots two and three in the 100-yard free for four points. The Panthers also saw strong performances in the 200-yard breaststroke by Amanda Knapp, who won the race in 2:42.10 and Birkel, 2:47.60 The Panthers will return to action on January 26, when they go up against St. Rose College in Albany, New York at 1:00pm. |
